Description

The Upper Mustang Trek is a rare and exclusive Himalayan adventure, requiring special permits due to the restricted nature of this region. This high-value trek combines remote, high-altitude desert landscapes with extraordinary cultural experiences, making it one of Nepal’s most unique journeys. Explore the ancient walled capital of Lo Manthang, walk through centuries-old monasteries such as Thubchen and Jampa Gompa, and immerse yourself in the Tibetan-influenced culture, language, and traditions of the Mustang people. Trek through the Kali Gandaki River gorge, the deepest gorge in the world, and discover hidden valleys, cave hermitages, and red sandstone cliffs along the way. The trek also includes scenic drives through rugged terrain, highlighting the barren yet breathtaking high-altitude desert landscapes and offering panoramic views of the Nilgiri, Annapurna, and Dhaulagiri ranges. Optional excursions include the Chhoser cave complex and Garphu Monastery, while timing your trek during the Tiji Festival in May provides a vibrant cultural experience. This journey is an extraordinary combination of exclusive access, cultural richness, and striking natural beauty, offering travelers a once-in-a-lifetime experience in one of the most remote regions of the Himalayas.
